Meet Our Doctor
Joseph O'Hara, D.V.M.
Founder & Medical Director

Dr. Joe O'Hara has over 10 years of experience in both general practice and emergency medicine, and is able to handle anything that comes his way. Over the course of his career, he has treated a wide range of urgent and complex cases, giving him the calm, steady approach that pets and families need most in stressful moments.
For the past several years, Dr. O'Hara has worked as an ER doctor at Denver Animal Emergency. While he loved the challenge and fast pace of emergency medicine, he found himself missing the deeper, long-term relationships that come from caring for pets and their families over many years. That desire to reconnect with the community and be part of his patients' lives from puppy and kittenhood through their senior years is what inspired him to open Oak Landing Animal Hospital.
Dr. O'Hara believes every family deserves a strong, trusting relationship with their veterinarian—someone who knows their pet’s history, listens carefully, and partners with them to make the best decisions for their pet’s health. He is committed to excellence in every aspect of care, from preventive medicine and client education to advanced diagnostics and treatment, always keeping both the pet and the people who love them at the center of every decision.
Dr. O'Hara is originally from Pennsylvania, received his bachelors degree at Xavier University, where he was also a collegiate swimmer, then continued his studies at Virginia Tech for veterinary school. Outside of the hospital, Dr. O'Hara loves to stay active and explore the outdoors. He enjoys spending time with his wife, Madison, and family on Lake Norman. He also loves to travel, hike, play volleyball, and train for triathlons and Ironman races. These adventures help him recharge so he can bring his full energy, focus, and compassion to every patient he sees.
